choice of camera, light source and software of inspection. In
general three typical application can solve the most needs:
1. Pile detection with back light
Applicable when the backing is not coated. A back light is
positioned under the carpet; the light pass through the backing
much more than through the pile, so the camera positioned in the
other side of the product can see the difference of the contrast
and detect the edge of the pile.
In general this system is installed without monitor: just the
camera which make everything automatic. If required a computer
with a touch screen monitor can be added at the system in order
to have a monitor of the inspection.
2. Pile detection with front light
When the backing is coated, is not possible to detect the
pile edge by a backlight.
In this case a front light is used in order to create the
necessary contrast and a dedicated software detects the pile
In general this system is installed without monitoring making
the camera everything in automatic. For difficult cases of
detection a computer with a touch screen monitor can be added at
the system in order to have a monitor of the inspection and, in
case, make a special setting of the system.

3. Multi line detection
Some products report some lines on the backing or on the pile
and it is necessary to identify these group of lines and guide
the web with a certain offset from them. This application is
generally solved with a front light and a camera system, colour

identify and select the group of lines/edges.

offers to the operator an easy software interface to monitor
