Necip Güney made a speech at the
International Textile Congress.

Becoming more and more important every day, technical textiles, which are high-performance products with special production technologies, are used intensively in construction, electrical fields, agriculture, medical areas and in defense industry.

In this context, developed countries are experts in this sector and mostly focus on technical textiles to preserve and increase their market share. Even though many investments have been in technical textiles in Turkey, the promotion activities still somewhat lag behind, therefore, aiming to bring together researchers and companies operating in the country and abroad and provide new opportunities to textile industrialists, International Technical Textile Congress was first held in 2002 in Sabancı Kültür Merkezi by the Department of Engineering of Dokuz Eylül University.

Later on, the congress started to be organized concurrently with HIGHTEX Istanbul Technical Textiles and Nonwoven Fair. The 4th International Technical Textile Congress was attended by  more than 300 participants. With 48 speakers and 34 poster presentations, the congress brought together domestic and foreign participants and visitors, national and international experts and researchers in the field of technical textiles.
