Government urged to curb the export of coarse yarn
Towel Manufacturer's Association (TMA) has urged the
government to discourage the export of coarse yarn to protect
the country's towel manufacturing sector. TMA said that the
coarse yarn export to competing countries in the world market,
including China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India, which are
trying to drive the country's towel products out from the
competition.
The government is requested to discourage the export of
coarse yarn, which could be used in the production of
value-added textile items locally. It further said that the
textile policy's objectives could be then easily achieved if the
government facilitates the local industry.
