Welcome address
Mr. Sohail Aziz said that it was realized early that the
moderisation of the textile industry was the key to the
sustainability of the textile industry in the post WTO era.
Policies were formulated to encourage investment in the state of
the art machinery and as a result billions of dollars of
investment started flowing for modernization.
Textile Asia was conceived with the idea to display on a
single platform textile machinery from all over the world. This
exhibition provides excellent environment for stakeholders in
the textile sector of Pakistan to meet and exchange ideas how to
work together and to make the textile sector more competitive
through collaborations, joint venture and trade.
More over it is
expected that Textile Asia would instigate the much needed flow
of investment for the value addition.
Mr. Sohail Aziz greatly appreciated of all the foreign
delegates who came to participate in Textile Asia despite extremely negative but wrong image of Pakistan in the global
media.
Dr. Khursheed Nizam, President, Ecommerce Gateway presented

Media at Textile Asia. |
Moreover, the Event on such a large-scale promoted the soft
image of Pakistan internationally and the foreign participants
return back to their countries remembering Pakistan as a hub of
business activities, which is a different perception from the
one promoted by the western media.
This will have a multiplying affect and would result in
increased foreign participation in the coming years. From
Textile Asia 2009, the relevant institutions and students also
get aware of the advancements in the sector.

Pakistan’s SME sector does not have the resources to send
technicians and other experts abroad for research and purchase
of Textile and Garment Machineries.
Textile Asia Int’l Textile and Garment Machinery Show thus
provides such a platform to our SME sector where all the
relevant decision makers jointly visit, test and purchase
machineries.
