Italian Review

Italian textile machinery manufacturers

The textile machinery industry requires great investments in research, deep know-how, long experience in textile, mechanic and electronic fields. Italy is today ranked as the second largest producer of textile machinery in the world and the technological level of its production is considered of the highest standard even by its competitors themselves. In 2008, the production of Italian textile machinery amounted to 2.0 billion Euro, 79% of which (worth 1.6 billion Euro) exported to about 130 countries. Asia (43%) is the main export area, followed by Europe (34%), South America (11%), Africa (7%) and North America (5%). Some of machinery manufacturers are highlighted here for the interest of our readers. Amina Baqai. Ed.

Marzoli: Two key machines

Despite the serious contraction in the global textile machinery industry, Marzoli was present at ITM 2009 in June this year. Marzoli presented two  key machines on which the final yarn quality depends upon: the new comber CM 600N (which was presented for the first time at ITMA 2007) and the card C6O1SN. The innovative features that contributed to increased performance and quality on card model C6O1SN are as follows.

  • Number of moving flats.
  • Geometry of carding component Suction system.
  • Type of gasket associated to different working speeds on the opening and carding groups.

The adoption of these innovations has increased production measured in Kg/hour to very competitive levels with yarn U% values classified as “excellent” on the USTER scale.

According to Marzoli, “the year 2009, though a difficult one because of the global crisis, is starting to show some signs of recovery, which we believe will be reaffirmed during the next trade show and will consolidate during the second semester. Turkey has a strong textile tradition, and for Marzoli it’s always been the most important textile market in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern areas.”
