Yarn joining: knotters and splicers
The "Splicer" is a pneumatic device joining
two yarn ends by mingling of the fibres composing the
yarn, resulting in continuity of the yarn itself and giving
remarkable benefits in quality and distinct advantages
in all subsequent stages of manufacture.
Mesdan have developed a versatile range of "Splicers"
in both manual and automatic versions capable of joining
yarns which may differ in fibre nature, spinning method,
count and torsion. (e.g.: continuous filament, single
and twisted spun yarns, open-end, compact and elastomeric
varieties.
Splicers which mingle the two yarn ends using compressed
air only are particularly suitable to join wool and synthetic
yarns are marketed as "Jointair"
Splicers which use water in addition to compressed air
are most suitable to join yarns such as cotton and linen,
these are marketed as "Aquasplicers".
Both Jointair and Aquasplicer are available in the automatic
version for the direct installation on new winding machines,
and in a hand operated version for installation together
with the Air Track Supply (A.T.S.) system on all textile
machines such as assembly winders, twisting machines,
manual winders, warping machines and on the creels for
knitting together with weft creels in the weaving mills
for tail-to-top transfer operations.

Yarn joining: A.T.S. systems
A.T.S. (Air Track Supply) is a complete system
which can be fitted on all kind of textile machinery
where yarn joining is necessary, enabling a Jointair
Splicer or an Aquasplicer to be positioned at any
desired position for the convenience of the operator.
Thanks to various standard support brackets, it
can be easily attached in the optimum working position,
leaving both hands free for yarn manipulation and
thus increasing productivity.

Nati 3280 (Neps & Trash indicator)
NATI is an instrument for counting Neps and Trash which
are present in slivers of cotton, synthetic or blended
fibres coming from a carding machine or combing machine.
Neps are classified into three categories, according to
their size: >= 0,5 mm, >=0,7mm >= 1 mm.
Trash is classified into two categories, according to
size: >= 0,25 mm e >= 0,5 mm. Neps and Trash
|
negatively affect the quality of the yarn emanating
from sliver or roving, therefore their constant
control by the spinner operator is highly important.
The operator can at any time ameliorate the process
by (a) reducing the carding machine speed, (b) changing
regulations, c) replacing card clothing, d) varying
blends.
NATI instrument is produced in collaboration between
Mesdan-Lab (a division of Mesdan Spa) and Keisokki
Kogyo based in Osaka (Japan). NATI is marketed and
distributed in Pakistan by Mesdan through Madhani
Associates.
