DuPont Ink Jet announces commercial availability of DuPont™ Artistri™ Disperse Dye Ink

Digital printing has been developed by a number of companies that have exhibited at previous ITMAs. In general, ITMA 2003 had real production machines geared to increasing market share. The DuPont™ Artistri™ 2020 from DuPont, Wilmington, Del., was exhibited at ITMA 2003 as a fully integrated production digital printer for a wide variety of substrates in the apparel and home furnishings arena.

The printer was developed in conjunction with Japan-based Ichinose Toshin Kogyo Co. Ltd. The machine features advanced piezo-electric printing heads with resolutions between 360 and 720 dots per inch, and productivity of 30 to 50 square meters per hour (m2/hr). The Artistri inks are delivered in self-contained delivery systems.

DuPont™ Artistri™ Disperse Dye Ink

DuPont Ink Jet announced the commercial availability of DuPont™ Artistri™ D700 Disperse Dye inks for digital textile printing. The ink chemistry was introduced at the ITMA show, Birmingham, UK in October 2003. The inks have been specifically formulated to work in the DuPont™ Artistri™ 2020 on-demand digital textile printer with DuPont™ Artistri™ software and are available in an eight-color set consisting of cyan, light cyan, yellow, magenta, light magenta, black, light black and violet. The aqueous-based inks are specifically designed for short to medium production runs on polyester and its blends and are supplied commercially in one-liter sealed cartridges.

The inks were formulated with proprietary DuPont dispersion technology. The inks will provide bright and reproducible colors to polyester printers with very good all round end-use properties. The inks can be fixed by the various methods of fixation typically used in conventional printing with disperse dyes.
Formulated with the same colorants used in conventional textile printing, the inks offer high-quality, robust printing with a very wide color gamut, making them ideal for product samples and small to medium production lots with different designs or multiple colorways.

Like traditional screen printed inks, the DuPont™ Artistri™ Disperse Dye inks require post-processing to ensure vibrant and colorfast results.

DuPont™ Artistri™ Disperse Dye inks provide high reliability in continuous operation, while providing the end-use performance the textile industry expects.

In addition to disperse dye inks, DuPont™ Artistri™ Ink chemistries include commercially available acid dye and reactive dye ink and pigment ink, which will be commercially available in the second quarter of 2004, all specially developed for digital printing on all popular textile materials.
The DuPont Artistri™ 2020 printer enables sample, strike-off and short-run digital production printing of fabrics up to 1.8 meters wide. It is a roll-to-roll system that is equipped with an adhesive print blanket, enabling reliable, high-quality printing on both woven and knits, including stretch fabrics. The system and inks are designed for virtually all fiber contents, including: nylon, silk, cotton, polyester and blend materials including DuPont Lycra blends. The DuPont™ Artistri™ 2020 printer sets a new industry standard for print speed, offering several print modes with speeds exceeding 50 square meters per hour to allow fast production of digital designs.

The DuPont™ Artistri™ software allows users to print designs of all types directly from the computer. It includes textile CAD file format capability for handling color-separated files for both flat and continuous tones as well as true color prints. This functionality, along with exceptional color management, provides exact examples of designs that are attainable in production.
