Slub yarn produces a remarkable visual effect. Slub yarn
is a yarn containing irregularities and varying thicknesses,
which is achieved by making the bottom rollers on the
spinning frame work at different speeds. By just slightly
modifying the production process, an enormous range of
minute variations can be created.
The combination of thicknesses and random variations
ensures a range of effects, so rich that slub spinning
is gaining ground in a growing number of applications.
Slub yarn is no longer just present in traditional fabrics
used in upholstery, lace, net curtains and household fabrics
in general but it is becoming more popular in the production
of denim on ring frames, shirting, knitwear and more vivid
casual wear.

Slub yarn for ring frames
On ring frames, slub yarn is achieved by varying the speed of
the back and middle bottom roller by maintaining the production
roller at a constant speed. These quick, yet controlled, accelerations
produce variations in the base yarn count. The process is suited
to all types of fibres (short, long, natural, synthetic or combined)
and yarn counts. The Pinter system can be installed on all type
and makes of ring frames and its design is customized to the
model of the machine.
Basic features and their advantages are given as under:
Brushless servomotor
In-built brushless servomotor, characterised by constant torque,
low inertia and high dynamic performance with immediate response
to changes in speed. The most important feature of the motor
is that it is protected against heat and receives feed back
from a compact encoder.

Speed regulation unit powered by alternating current. Suited
to spinning frames of over 500 spindles, it has an electronic
safety differential which guarantees the synchronism of the
feed rollers. It also has an LCD display which indicates the
state of the unit in real-time.
Alpha-numeric LCD display
A programmer which contains an alphanumeric LCD display with
a two-line, forty-character display, which serves to programme
the unit (in linked systems programming can also be carried
out on a PC). The programme memory can store up to 99 distinct
programmes allowing for the combination of thickneses, lengths
and distances and there is also a random programme option. Deceleration
ramps can also be programmed to prevent the appearance of thin
sections and to guarantee yarn resistance. For long sections
of irregular yarn, Pinter offers a multicount design with varying
twist.
Gear box designed according to the spinning frame
A gear box which comes in various models depending on the design
of the spinning frame on which it is to be mounted. It is made
of highly resistant material which has been specially treated
for its use.
Extremely precise encoder
A console which contains the electric and electronic components
of the system and the programmer. This console is connected
to the spinning frame by means of an encoder, which is located
on the production roller. The encoder is extremely precise and
can read speeds, which are subsequently processed by the microprocessor.
It guarantees a highly accurate length and thickness of the
slub yarn and an extremely reliable reproduction of programmes.
Both the console and its components are protected against heat.
Slub yarn for OE frames
In OE frames, the slub yarn is produced by modifying the speed
of the feed roller of the roving. The system runs on the same
basis as on ring frames, which identical technology as far as
the motor and programming are concerned. In Autocoro machines,
although production is greater, the slub effect achieved is
different to that in ring frames. It is mainly used to produce
denim or irregular yarn.
SYS VI-Slub yarn simulator
With a view to cutting down on time and labour, Pinter has designed
simulator software which allows the spinner to work at the same
time as the spinning frame. It can be incorporated into
|
any PC to programme slub yarn production regardless of
the actual work which is being carried out on the spinning
frame.
The Pinter SYS VI software was created to provide a slub
yarn screen, which enables an accurate simulation of the
yarn to be carried out By using this technology, the results
can be viewed prior to the actual production of the yarn.
It is a time-saving device which allows for considerable
freedom when designing slub yarns. The simulator is user-friendly
and can be installed on all types of PCs. By entering
just two parameters, i.e. the thickness and length of
both the base and slub yarn, the programme calculates
the corresponding spacing and displays the format the
yarn will actually take on screen or on paper.
The slub effect in the yarn (either in flat or weaving
format) is viewed in two dimensions. This simulator calculates
as well the End Yarn Count and other statistical values
such as: total slubs per meter, average yarn thickness,
average yarn draft and others. The values can be modified
as required until the desired effect has been achieved
to simplify usage as much as possible, the programme is
identical to that of the spinning frame. What's more,
the data can be saved, and then faithfully reproduced
and sent to the spinning machine.
Pinter SYS VI is an intelligent programme which aims
to facilitate the production of yarn while working on
the spinning frame at the same time.
