MARZOLI
C601 cardING MACHINE

Marzoli is presently marketing the C601 card which is reported to process around 120 kilograms of fiber per hour, utilizes a 350-millimeter (mm) single licker-in rather than the multiple roller configuration used by others. There are nine pre-carding and six post-carding elements for additional and efficient cleaning.
A mid-term autoleveling system, based around the feed roll, and a short-term autoleveler that utilizes a 3/3 drafting system at the delivery of the card, is used by Marzoli.

Electro-Jet
ADR ROVEMATIC

Electro-jet has introduced its new automatic Rovematic ADR roving frame. Several of these machines, which are capable of realizing a doffing in less than 90 seconds, are already working in mills.

The roving frames starts automatically after the doffing, without the need of any intervention by the operator. This allows a significant reduction of machine down-time.

The activation of the flyers (which can either be 16 x 6-inches or 16 x 7-inches), and the drafting system is realised by means of servomotor and driver, and only the title adjustment has to be made by gear change. The controls, both in the feding belt and in the top or bottom roving breakage, are activated by light barrier.

The roving frame is available from a minimum of 32 spindles to a maximum of 128, the latter's length still being less than 20 meters. Cotton roving frames offer a very quick doffing time of about 90 seconds on its ADR frame, which eliminates the need of manual input during restart, which significantly enhances the productivity of the roving frame. The autodoffing includes automatic wharf production, breakage of roving, interchange bobbins-tubes, fastening and re-start.

MURATA
Vortex Spinner

Murata Machinery will always be at the forefront of textile machinery technology. At ITMA 2003, they presented Murata Vortex Spinner, air-jet spinning machine, and No.21C Process Coner, high quality automatic winder. These machines with much advanced features and functional devices and equipments are reported to offer added new value.

Murata Vortex Spinner
The Murata Vortex Spinner (MVS) 861 from Murata Machinery offer compact and more user-friendly machine as compared to its predessor in addition to low energy consumption. This new machine with the fastest spinning of 450m/min produces fashionable “Vortex Yarns”. The machine productivity for MVS is 20 times higher as in case of ring spinning. and as compared to OE and Rotor Spinning technology Murata offers 3 times more efficiency.

Another feature that stands out is the so-called "Tension Ruler," which functions like a yarn accumulator between the take-up roller and winding unit. This unit not only enables higher speeds and the potential of 5 degree 57 cones, but it also does so with reduced energy when compared to earlier machines.

Murata Spin Cleaner (MSC)
The Vortex machine is reported to offer less yarn hairiness with Murata Spin Cleaner (MSC).
The MSC-F improved yarn clearer with foreign fiber detection, new waxing unit with alarm system, and automatic waste fiber extracting system. The machine offers the potential to spin core yarns including spandex, and effect yarns can be created by utilizing appropriate feed yarns.

FEHRER
DREF 3000 friction spinning machine

The DREF 3000 friction spinning machine is the latest model in the line. It is designed to produce high-tenacity yarns for flame-resistant protective apparel, upholstery, fibre composites, filters, and other technical fabrics.

The machine achieves production speeds of up to 250 meters per minute, as well as reduced costs for yarn preparation and maintenance. Touch-screen operation facilities handling of yarn parameters, PLC control and links to other computers. In addition, DREF 3000 can be used to manufacture elastomeric core yarns.

The company reports its high-speed yarn puncher finishes DREF-spun and other yarns, including fixing thread twist and binding short cotton fibres in mop yarns. Multiple yarns can be tacked onto substrates to produce design effects or improve technological parameters. The machine also punches core yarns to secure the Sheath and improve resistance to slippage.

SSM
Uniplex™ system

The Uniplex™ system developed by DuPont and manufactured by Schärer Schweiter Mettler (SSM) AG, Switzerland, is able to process a wide range of filament types and blends.
The DuPont™ Uniplex Technology is a single step process to convert filament yarns into spun yarns. The technology is based on unique stretch breaking process where the feedstock is filament yarn, which is drawn and stretch broken, and the resultant yarn structure is held together by wrapper fibers produced by an air jet.

It may be pointed out that the fiber length produced by this process is about 10 inches, and one can compare Uniplex ring and rotor yarn despite the fact that these technologies utilize a different fiber length.

WELKER
Advantages of conditioning

Welker conditioning systems are designed for moisturising in the temperature range between 50° and 70°C. Due to the soft starting temperature of 20°C, they are ideal for conditioning of waxed yarns. It is recommended to use waxes with melting points between 60° - 65°C.
Welker Conditioning Systems also allow heat setting at temperatures up to 95°C, thus offering an excellent price/performance ratio.

· Pressure Range: -1 bar to 0 bar
· Temperature Range: 45° to 95°C.

MESDAN
Splicer kit for elastic yarns

Mesdan is one of the leading manufacturers of yarn joining devices and laboratory instruments for the analysis of textile materials.

For splicing core spun elastic short staple yarns, Mesdan has designed a splicer kit especially for Schlafhorst Autoconer 238 and 338 machines for excellent results and perfect control of the Lycra yarn inside the joint . The application of this kit upgrades the splicing performance of Schlafhorst original splicer thanks to :

· higher splicing efficiency leading to an increased productivity of Schlafhorst Autoconers.
· a superior quality of the joint in terms of appearance , resistance and CV%.
· presence of Lycra filaments in the joint.
· the employ of water is not required.

The superiority of Mesdan solution is even more evident in case of high count elastane ( i.e. Lycra 156 Dtex) and high draw ratio.

LOPTEX
Tandem version Sorter

About 200 Loptex Sorters have been have been sold throughout Asia since its introduction in 1999. The success of the Loptex Sorter is due to a combination of several key features:

· the most effective position within the blow room line.
· no interruption of the fibre flow
· detection of coloured contamination by optical means.
· detection of colourless contamination by ultrasound.
· ejection of the contamination by individually controlled pneumatic valves.

Loptex offers its Tandem version which has been designed on the basis of the standard version, but divided into two autonomous halves. Each can be set at different sensitivities, which permits the processing of two different qualities, each with a production speed of 400 kg/h.

All systems detect contamination by optical means. Yarn clearers and the Sorter of Loptex use photosensors and detect the contamination as being darker than the cotton. Other sorting machines use colour cameras and detect contamination as being different in colour.

Polypropylene contamination
Contamination, which offers no contrast to the cotton, i.e. colourless contamination or contamination of the same shade, namely polypropylene packing materal, comes in whitish shades which do not offer a sufficient contrast to the raw material.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of echo. Loud sounds will be reflected by a rock wall. The degree of reflectance of acoustic waves depends on the surface structure of the object in their path. The Loptex Sorter makes use of this principle. It detects contamination independent of its colour on the basis of its surface structure. Most contamination has a denser surface structure than loose cotton tufts, in particular plastics.

The senor consists of a number of emitters of ultrasonic and, therefore, not hearable waves. The receiver will receive waves which are reflected by the contamination contained in loose cotton. If no contamination is present, the ultrasonic waves will be absorbed in the absorber box located on the other side of the pipe.

TEMCO
TEMCOOLER -DIRECT ACTIVE YARN COOLING

The Temcooler offers direct active yarn cooling for flexible and high performance texturing process. This technology can be considered as a break-through in the further development of false-twist texturing.

With the Temcooler, Temco successfully presents the top innovation for this process technology.

Advantages:
· marked increases in productivity for the entire yarn spectrum. Under optimum conditions, yarn speeds exceeding 1,500 m/min can be realised (see diagram).
· high production flexibility due to the wide application field.
· higher yarn quality, evident both in the yarn properties and fabric handle.
· better ergonomics than for machines with conventional cooling tracks.
· space saving with new machines due to significantly reduced texturing zone lengths
· elimination of yarn "cool outs", i.e. yarn springing out of cooling track during processing.

The TEMCOOLER principle
During texturing the yarn is cooled in a closed, electronically controlled system through direct contact with a cooling liquid. This extremely efficient technique reduces the cooling zone length to only a few centimeters. Texturing process stability, efficiency and quality increase as a result of the drastic shortening of the overall texturing zone.

New machines and retrofits
For full potential of the texturing process to be realised, whether on new machines or machine conversions. Manufacturers of high quality textured yarns should keep in mind this new technology which was presented at ITMA in Birmingham.

Ring Spinning Frame: EJM 168
