47th Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers
Congress (Dornbirn-Mfc) The 47th
Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers Congress – Communicating the Textile
Future was held successfully at Dornbirn, Austria during 17th to
19 th September 2008.
Closer Cooperation with VDMA
In view of a closer cooperation with the
working group Textiles of the German Association of the
Automotive Industry, the organizers of the Dornbirn Man-Made
Fibers Congress expect presentations from experts about the
developments in the use of man-made fibers in car manufacturing.
Important synergies can be expected for
DORNBIRN-MFC as the topic Car Manufacturing will be repeated
alternatively with IAA Frankfurt. The next one will be in 2010.
Record Number of Lectures on
Sustainability
The broad interest in sustainability is
reflected in many of the 120 lectures (6 plenary sessions, 114
individual lectures).

More than 20 international man-made fiber
and filament producers, some 20 universities/High
Schools/Research Institutes Europe/USA, Japan), Roof
Organisations (Europe/USA) and further 40 lead companies from
car manufacturing, Apparel, Nonwonvens, Auxiliaries and Machine
Manufacturing will present on the topics: New Development in
Fibers, Safety, Technical Textiles, Nonwovens, Sportswear, EU
Research Project a cross-section of the innovative capabilities
of the man-made fibers industry and the scientific/technical
potential of institutes and universities.
The lectures will be completed with market
data and testing methods for processing oriented performance
profiles.
Presentation of new sustainability
brochure from Lenzing AG
The Lenzing Group will use DORNBIRN-MFC as
the launching platform for its 3rd edition of the brochure on
sustainability with the title “Focus Sustainability”.
Environmental protection, climate changes,
energy consumption, these topics dominate current headlines of
newspapers and TV stations worldwide. They are of influence on a
global industrial producer like the Lenzing group, too.
The latest edition will feature the
milestones in environmental protection, social responsibility
and economy.
Coordination talks with CCFA
After the visit of a delegation of CCFA
(Chinese Chemical Fiber Association) at the DORNBIRN-MFC 2007 a
closer cooperation of the 2 organisations was envisaged.

The main target is the coordination of a
spring congress in China with the September congress in Dornbirn
on the topic of man-made fibers to establish more intense
contact between fiber producers in Asia and Europe/The Americas.
Talks will be resumed in June 2008.
Topic Last Minute Highlights meets
expectations
To meet with the dynamics of our times the
organizers have created a section called Last Minute Highlights
with a possibility for a maximum of 9 lectures. Apart of the
lectures from car makers and their suppliers the company Rhodia
Polyamide and Specialities from Santo Andre /Brazil shall
present a new fiber to the market.
