Vlisco goes live with Quintiq Planning Suite

Quintiq provides advanced planning, scheduling and supply chain management solutions. The Dutch company established in 1997, offers software for planning and optimizing complex business processes throughout the enterprise. The company’s headquarters is located in the Netherlands and it has subsidiaries in Germany, UK, Finland, Malaysia, China, Australia, and the USA.

Textile manufacturer Vlisco in Helmond has gone live with Quintiq’s planning solution. Vlisco selected the software to optimize its production processes and improve its delivery performance.

Vlisco manufactures wax prints and java prints. The company focuses on the West African market where this colorful textile is mainly worn by women. Vlisco, part of the listed Gamma Holding, is a market leader in Africa.

Vlisco chose the Quintiq solution in 2007 as this software offered the most flexibility. Quintiq’s planning philosophy provided a solid fit as the software is easily adaptable to meet Vlisco’s needs and requirements. Quintiq has gained vast experiences in planning and scheduling within the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing approach mirrors the metal sector’s such that raw material is processed various times towards an end product and in some cases up to 30 processes are needed.

At Vlisco, the existing JD Edwards ERP system is linked to the Quintiq software solution. The two environments were integrated seamlessly. It is still early to quantify in detail the advantages of the new planning system; however, it is already clear that delivery performance has improved and Vlisco has more insight in to their production flows and capacity availability. As a result, this enables the production department to make informed decisions on the work that needs to be completed and in the optimal sequence. The most significant improvement at Vlisco, currently, is the work-in-progress reduction of 18%. Overall, Vlisco is able to control its business more efficiently.
