At a meeting of the Federation of Hong Kong Garment Manufacturers Association, the Director of the Hong Kong Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, Ma ShiHeng said that the value of all textiles and apparel products exported in 2007 from Hong Kong touched nearly HK $ 33 billion.

He mentioned that textile and apparel exports had contributed nearly 39% to the basket of exports from Hong Kong and at the same time had played a big role in the economic development of Hong Kong in 2007. He also stated that while re-export's of textile and apparel stood at HK $33 billion, the actual export value of all textile and garment products touched HK $42.5 billion,
